I found a great furniture and decor store yesterday, Bolia. I love their modern sofas and the many textures and colors that you can choose from to make it your own! Check out the neat wallcoverings behind the staged rooms in their store and the way they stack the catalogs. Very creative!

the lydmar hotel

This Stockholm hotel, The Lydmar, is subtly modern but also traditionally chic. They display rotating art in the lobby, pour wine on one of a couple gorgeous and lively patios, and house a cozy yet bright library-esque restaurant. It is a place to see and be seen.

Walking around Skeppsholmen, a little island in Stockholm, we stumbled on this adorably funky boutique called Odd Birds. They set up this traveling store primarily to gain exposure for their company. The girls working there were so sweet and their merchandise was very unique... I especially like the tea cup lamps!

one of a find! color jack

Calling all color-lovers... you must check out the color palettes on this website colorjack! You can also use the color sphere to find complementary colors simply by clicking anywhere on the wheel! It is such a great tool for getting new ideas and knowing which colors really work together.  AND when you find a combination you like, you can export it to Photoshop or Illustrator. 

the modern life concept house

Elle Decor invited 10 "designers to watch" to decorate rooms in two Manhattan condos and wouldn't you know it, they are fabulous! The designers each teamed with a retailer to execute their vision. Here are a few of my favorite rooms...


With the help of Room&Board, Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller created this bright retro-modern living room.

This living room by San Francisco designer Beth Martin and Calligaris is exactly what I'm envisioning for my next place. I LOVE the gray couch and wood accents. 

Oliver M. Furth created this study using USM modular furniture. I like that he didn't take the word "study" too literally... not every study needs to have mahogany and leather-bound books. :)

This kitchen by Katie Lydon and Bosch is a lovely classic twist on modern... a lot of people find modern to be stark and cold, but this is a good example of "warm modern".

And finally, this GORGEOUS patio designed by Rafael de Cardenas and Extremis... so creative and interesting!
